On May 9, 2017, the School of Statistics and Management successfully held the acceptance defense for the seven key course construction sub-projects of the Statistical Education Reform Project - the Bingwen Program in Room 1316.
In October 2015, the State Council issued the "Overall Plan for Coordinating the Construction of World-Class Universities and Disciplines." Following the spirit of the national planning outline, the Ministry of Education required all universities to take the opportunity of promoting the "Double First Class" construction of world-class universities and disciplines to vigorously develop and build first-class undergraduate education. Our college actively responded to the guiding strategic ideas of the Ministry of Education, promoting the improvement of the collaborative education mechanism at the college level and deepening the cultivation of top innovative talent. In May 2016, we successfully applied for the "Specialty Education and Teaching Reform Project" from the Ministry of Education. The construction of key course series is a sub-project of the educational reform project for the statistics major, advancing our college's continuous improvement and enrichment of teaching resources and enhancing teaching quality.

This time, a total of 8 key courses were constructed, including "Financial Time Series Analysis" by Professor Wang Liming, "Mathematical Statistics" by Professor Feng Xingdong, "Probability Theory" by Associate Professor Huang Tao, "Regression Analysis" by Associate Professor You Jinhong, "Statistical Software" by Associate Professor Wu Chunjie, "Nonparametric Statistics" by Associate Professor Cui Chang, as well as "Real Variable Functions" by Teacher Lan Yuting and "Stochastic Processes" co-built by Teacher Wu Chunjie and Teacher Lan Yuting. The subproject review invited Professor Liang Zhi'an from the School of Mathematics, Vice Dean Han Dongmei from the School of Information Management and Engineering, and our own Professor Xu Guoxiang, Professor Wang Liming, and Professor Zhao Haibing to serve as review experts. The meeting was chaired by Vice Dean Wu Chunjie, who is responsible for teaching work in our college. The reviewers first listened to the reports from the project leaders on the relevant course construction and provided targeted opinions and suggestions. The reviewers affirmed the achievements of the key course construction in our college. After discussions among the five review experts, it was decided that the construction and continuation of the 8 key courses in our college were approved for closure. Thus, the defense for the completion and acceptance of the subproject of the 8 key courses in the statistical education and teaching reform project has ended successfully.
The construction of 8 courses in our institute includes content such as courseware, teaching outlines, and case collections. During the construction process, we actively invited students to participate, greatly enriching the teaching content. By relying on existing construction achievements, we continuously improve teaching resources and optimize teaching methods. We gather quality outcomes in various forms such as courseware, cases, and experiments, which has received a positive response. Our institute focuses on deepening educational and teaching reforms from several aspects, including advancing innovation and entrepreneurship education reform, adjusting and optimizing the structure of disciplines and majors, improving the collaborative education mechanism, promoting the cultivation of outstanding innovative talents, and advancing the deep integration of information technology with education and teaching. Our institute will also seize the current important strategic opportunity period to vigorously promote the reform of education and teaching in the statistics major, striving to successfully complete the "Professional Education and Teaching Reform Project."
