On November 7, the undergraduate program qualification evaluation meeting of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics was held at our school. In initiating the innovative practice reform for cultivating statistical talents, our school took the lead in 2013 by enrolling in three undergraduate programs: Statistics, Economic Statistics, and Applied Statistics, and implemented multi-dimensional talent development plans such as outstanding and excellent talent cultivation, achieving phase-based results. This evaluation is for the Economic Statistics and Applied Statistics programs.

Vice President Liu Lanjun, Deputy Director Fu Chuan of the Academic Affairs Office, Deputy Director Cao Xiaoxia of the Academic Affairs Office, Director Zhang Qiurong of the Academic Affairs Office of Shanghai Maritime University, Vice Dean Professor Zheng Ming of the School of Management at Fudan University, Party Secretary Professor Zhu Qigui of the Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance at Shanghai Jiaotong University, and Dean Professor Lin Jinguang of the Institute of Statistics and Big Data Science at Nanjing Audit University attended the meeting. Our college's Secretary Tu Tianfeng, Vice Dean Wu Chunjie, Vice Dean You Jinhong, Deputy Secretary Wang Ti, and representatives from two majors participated in the meeting. Deputy Director Fu Chuan chaired the meeting.

Before the formal evaluation, the college held a preparatory meeting for the expert group. Subsequently, the expert group listened to the reports from the heads of the Economics Statistics and Applied Statistics programs regarding the development of their disciplines, faculty situation, talent cultivation, teaching construction, and teaching management. Four external experts engaged in discussions with the two program heads based on the brief overview of the two programs, the compliance evaluation report, and the reported situation. Afterward, the experts reviewed the teaching documentation materials provided by our college.

During this period, Vice Dean Wu Chunjie accompanied Vice Principal Liu Lanjun and the expert group to visit our college's laboratories and went into the classrooms to understand the teaching situation. Subsequently, teacher and student discussion meetings were held separately, where the expert group heard the opinions and suggestions of teacher representatives and student representatives regarding the two majors of Economic Statistics and Applied Statistics.

In the afternoon, a feedback meeting was held with the expert group. The expert group fully affirmed the teaching and research strength, faculty quality, and academic achievements of the two programs in our college, and proposed suggestions for areas that need improvement. Vice President Wu Chun-jie responded to the experts' points regarding the construction of all-English courses, optimization of professional training plans, enhancement of software course training, and differentiation among majors. Finally, President Liu Lan-juan indicated that the college would be guided to improve in areas where there are deficiencies, moving towards higher-level talent goals.

Professional assessment is one of the important evaluation methods for teaching quality management and also accumulates experience for the Ministry of Education in the evaluation of undergraduate programs. The college takes professional assessment as an opportunity, adhering to the principles of subjectivity, specificity, and empirical evidence, fully leveraging the college's main role in professional development. Based on recognizing achievements, in-depth research on core issues in professional development and outstanding problems in talent cultivation has been conducted, which contributes to the innovation of statistical talent training.
