On the afternoon of December 23, 2018,the School of Statistics and Management invited Dr. Dong Wei, Pre-sales Manager of East China Region at Saishi Software (Beijing) Co., Ltd., to give a technical lecture on "The Application of Neural Network Models in Anti-Fraud." The report was held in the lecture hall on the first floor of the School of Statistics and Management at Wudong Campus. The lecture was hosted by Vice Dean Wu Chunjie.

Dr. Dong Wei has been appointed as a part-time graduate supervisor for the Master's program in Applied Statistics at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. He is an expert at the Wuxi High-tech Zone Internet of Things Think Tank (Feifeng Brainwise) and an Alibaba Cloud MVP. Dr. Dong Wei provides big data analysis consulting services to various clients in industries such as banking, government, insurance, and telecommunications, with extensive experience in advanced big data analytics.
Dr. Dong Wei introduced the basic concepts of neural network models and their applications in anti-fraud business to the students based on his own accumulated experience. He also discussed model fitting evaluation and the impact of data preprocessing on the fitting effectiveness of neural network models in rare event business scenarios. Dr. Dong Wei shared many unique insights into the application of neural networks in the anti-fraud field with a humorous and engaging language, providing profound thoughts that greatly benefited the students present. In the final interactive session, Dr. Dong Wei gave corresponding answers to the students' modeling questions in the anti-fraud field.

This lecture is the result of the collaboration between the college and SAS during the course construction phase. As early as 2015, the School of Statistics and Management at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics formally signed a strategic cooperation agreement with SAS China, and both parties carried out comprehensive and multi-dimensional strategic cooperation, including the establishment of a student practice base, the establishment of the "Shanghai University of Finance and Economics - SAS Training and Development Center," the organization of the "SAS Data Analysis Competition," research collaboration, and talent development, among other activities.
The college adheres to reform and innovation, and an open approach to education, continually innovating the training model for statistical talents, deepening the collaborative education model of school-enterprise cooperation. By inviting industry experts to the school for sharing and communication, expanding practical teaching models of courses, and actively promoting the integration of theory and practice for students, it aims to cultivate first-class statistical talents who are creative, decisive, and possess strong organizational skills.
