On the evening of April 20, 2015,our college's class of 2013 held a themed class meeting, where Professor Shao Jianli, the chairman of the college's faculty union, delivered a special report titled "The Journey and Academic Advantages of Statistics at SUFE" for the class of 2013. More than one hundred students from the class of 2013 attended the report.
Professor Shao, drawing on his 30 years of experience working at the School of Statistics at SUFE, guided everyone through the development of statistics since 1946 during the "booming era of economic statistics." He introduced the current "cold era of mathematical statistics" (cold refers to the characteristics of the mathematical statistics discipline) and highlighted our school's national leading advantage, ranking fourth in the field of statistics.
Professor Shao also discussed the advantages of the statistics discipline from a scientific perspective. In the era of big data, the methods of statistics will be applied more widely across various economic fields.
Finally, Professor Shao interacted with the students, and the report concluded successfully in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, accompanied by warm applause from the students.
