The demonstration meeting for the construction and development plan of our college's undergraduate programs was held on April 11 at the college. The expert panel consisted of Professor Zheng Ming and Professor Zhu Zhongyi, both vice deans of the School of Management at Fudan University; Professor Yue Rongxian, former dean of the School of Mathematics and Physics at Shanghai Normal University; Professor Liang Zhian, former director of the School of Mathematics at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics; and Associate Professor Jiang Xiaodong, assistant dean of the International Business Administration School at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (currently deputy director of the Academic Affairs Office), who evaluated the construction and development plans for our college's two majors: Statistics and Economic Statistics. Our college dean Zhou Yong, vice dean Wu Chunjie, program leaders Feng Xingdong, Chen Yan, Chang Ning, and undergraduate department head Li Tao, as well as faculty representatives Zhao Haibing and Cui Xiangyu, attended the meeting. The meeting was hosted by Professor Feng Xingdong.

In response to the school's call, the School of Statistics and Management has optimized its undergraduate program offerings. The college currently has two undergraduate majors: Statistics and Economic Statistics. The Statistics major continues to implement an experimental class training model and offers a direction in Data Science and Business Statistics, while the Economic Statistics major introduces a direction in Financial Statistics and Risk Management, forming two majors and three directions under the discipline of statistics for enrollment.
Associate Professor Chen Yan, Director of the Department of Financial Statistics, and Associate Professor Li Tao, Director of the Undergraduate Program, respectively reported on the construction and development plans for the Economics Statistics and Statistics majors. The report included the current status of major construction, guiding principles and goals for major development, content of major construction planning, and measures taken to ensure the construction of the majors.

After the report was completed, the meeting entered the expert questioning and discussion session. The experts expressed appreciation for the achievements of our two major programs. In order to improve our school's program development, and further enhance the quality of our program construction and development planning report, the expert group, while affirming the preparation work for this material, also put forward many constructive ideas and suggestions.

Internationalization is a characteristic and development strategy of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. Several experts have stated that the two major fields of Statistics and Economic Statistics should highlight and emphasize this point, especially the internationalization of faculty and talent cultivation. Furthermore, experts have provided their insights on professional positioning, curriculum development, textbook construction, and talent cultivation programs.
At the end of the argumentation meeting, Dean Zhou Yong delivered a concluding speech and thanked the attending experts for their advice and suggestions for the professional development of our college. He stated that he would take advantage of this professional argumentation opportunity, combine disciplinary strengths, and address several existing shortcomings, such as the internationalization of talent cultivation, all-English courses, and textbook development, by increasing funding support. This will provide the hardware and software guarantees needed to achieve the goal of cultivating innovative statistics talent and lead the domestic development frontier of the two majors: Statistics and Economic Statistics.

After extensive discussion, the expert group has provided unanimous evaluative opinions on the professional construction and development plan of our institution.
