On April 30, the donation signing ceremony for the 81st cohort of statistics alumni special fund at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics was held in the Entrepreneurship Training Center auditorium. Vice President Fang Hua, Director of the Cooperative Development Office Chen Hongmei, Dean of the School of Statistics and Management Zhou Yong, Party Secretary Tu Tianfeng, Deputy Secretary Wang Ti, Vice Dean Wu Chunjie, and relevant teachers from the school attended the donation ceremony. Representatives from the 81st cohort of statistics alumni, including Jin Wenzhong, Li Xunlei, Song Guowu, Ping Ying, Ju Honghui, Jiang Guowei, and Wang Xiaoqiang, as well as alumni from other cohorts and some teachers and students, participated in the ceremony. Deputy Secretary Wang Ti of the School of Statistics and Management hosted the ceremony.

Vice President Fanghua delivered a welcoming speech at the donation ceremony. He expressed gratitude to alumni for their long-term attention and support for their alma mater and congratulated on the establishment of the Class of '81 Statistics Alumni Special Fund. He then reviewed the recent achievements of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics this year, introduced the characteristics of modernization, internationalization, and informatization, as well as the goal of striving for "Double First-Class" discipline construction, and expressed high hopes for the statistics discipline.

Next, Ju Honghui, representing the Class of '81 Statistics alumni, delivered a speech. She expressed her happiness as an alumnus to have the opportunity to give back to her alma mater. She shared her experiences at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics with everyone present and hoped that the fund could help more junior students broaden their knowledge and improve their cultural literacy. She conveyed the special feelings that the Class of '81 Statistics holds for their alma mater and hopes for more opportunities to participate in the development and construction of the School of Statistics and Management.

At 9:40 AM, the donation ceremony officially began. Jiang Guowei, an alumnus from the Class of '81 Statistics, donated a check of 200,000 to the School of Statistics and Management at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics on behalf of the Class of '81 Statistics. Tu Tianfeng, the secretary of the School of Statistics and Management, accepted the check on behalf of the school. Following this, Chen Hongmei, the director of the Cooperative Development Office, jointly signed a donation agreement with alumnus representative Jiang Guowei on behalf of the university. Vice President Fang Hua presented a donation certificate to the Class of '81 Statistics. It is reported that the "Class of '81 Statistics Alumni Fund" was jointly donated by 29 classmates from the class along with their homeroom teacher and counselor from that year.


After the donation ceremony, Dean Zhou Yong of the School of Statistics and Management gave a speech. Dean Zhou thanked everyone present for attending, and he briefly introduced the development of the School of Statistics and Management, as well as the achievements in scientific research and talent cultivation in 2015. In particular, he shared with the alumni the recently released rankings of A-level journal papers in the fourth round of first-level discipline evaluations, where our university's statistics discipline ranked second. He expressed that the alumni of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics have contributed to the prestigious reputation of the university, and he hopes that all alumni will continue to support the school, which will always be a strong backing for their career development.

The second phase of the agenda is the Alumni Interview Salon event hosted by the College of Statistics and Management——"Sharing Alumni Life Insights, Soaring with Youthful Dreams." Class of '81 alumni Jin Wenzhong, Li Xunlei, Song Guowu, and Ping Ying, along with '78 statistics alumnus Yu Jiansheng and '80 statistics alumnus Qiao Wei, respectively shared their life experiences and insights on stage, providing unique perspectives and guidance for younger students in their studies and job searches.


In the afternoon, the School of Statistics and Management held an expanded meeting of the Alumni Association Preparatory Committee, with nearly 30 alumni participating in the preparatory meeting. According to the preparatory work plan for the alumni association, the School of Statistics and Management will establish an alumni branch in October.
