On March 25, 2025, the School of Statistics and Data Science held the college meeting at the beginning of the second semester of the 2024-2025 academic year, attended by all faculty and staff of the college.
The first agenda of the meeting was hosted by Union Chair Zuo Nan for the 2024 "Yanshu Award" ceremony. Dean Feng Xingdong introduced the background of the establishment of the "Yanshu Award" at the college, encouraging all faculty and staff to work with full dedication in the new year and unite their efforts to help advance the college's various undertakings to a new level. The college's leadership presented honor certificates to the awarded collectives and individuals.
Next, the members of the college leadership team reported on the key focus areas for each line of work in the new semester, in conjunction with the school's initial work deployment and meeting spirit.
Dean Feng Xindong conveyed the work spirit from the school's start-of-term meeting to all faculty members. He reported on the main work plans, reform measures, and key tasks for the college this semester. He emphasized the need to maintain strict teaching discipline, diligently implement the various institutional requirements for teaching management, and create a positive teaching atmosphere.
Secretary Yang Hui conveyed the spirit of the school's Party construction and comprehensive strict governance of the Party work leadership group's meeting, pointing out that the college Party Committee has deployed the initiation of in-depth study and education to implement the spirit of the Central Eight Regulations, and will advance the construction of teachers' ethics and conduct, as well as the teaching and academic atmosphere, in conjunction with the integrated characteristic Party building.
Secretary Yang Hui led the participants to study the "Ten Guidelines for Teachers' Professional Behavior in the New Era" in depth, and combined it with typical cases exposed by the Ministry of Education that violated the ten guidelines for teachers' professional behavior for educational warnings. He required the college's teachers to consciously adhere to the teacher's professional behavior norms, continuously improve their moral cultivation, and become role models for students in learning, work, and personal conduct. At the same time, publicity and education on regulating reimbursement for local transportation expenses were conducted.
Vice President Huang Tao emphasized the key aspects of graduate thesis plagiarism checking, blind review, and related work, requiring faculty and students to strictly adhere to important timelines and regulations to ensure the smooth progress of thesis work. He also reiterated the disciplinary requirements for the graduate admissions re-examination and enrollment process.
The Director of the Master's Program in Applied Statistics, Liu Xin, reported on the arrangements and requirements for the upcoming master's degree graduate re-examination work. He hoped that all faculty and staff would work together with full commitment to rigorously and orderly complete the master's degree student admissions work with high quality.
Deputy Dean Li Tao gave a special presentation on the university and college's undergraduate education teaching evaluation plan, pointing out that the college will carry out a self-examination of undergraduate teaching archives. He hopes that all teachers will actively cooperate and carefully conduct a self-examination of the teaching archives for the courses they are responsible for.
Deputy Secretary Zhuang Mei focused on the graduation progress and employment situation of graduates, introduced the status of students at various academic levels in the college, and reminded all mentors to pay attention to the employment mindset and academic conditions of graduates, collaborating to effectively support the work for graduates. At the same time, she reported on the adjustments to the stipend standards for teaching assistants and administrative assistants for this year.
The School of Statistics and Data Science will adhere to the core leadership of party building, focus on scientific research and innovation to serve national strategies, deepen educational reform to cultivate outstanding talents, and achieve high-quality development in talent cultivation, scientific research, and social services.
