On the afternoon of March 11, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics' School of Statistics and Management held a summary meeting for the Party's mass line education and practice campaign in the college's 1208 conference room. The meeting was chaired by Zhu Mingxiong, Minister of the University’s Organization Department, and a summary report was presented by Dou Jianmin, the former Secretary of the Party General Branch at the college. Wang Xiali, a member of the university's fifth supervisory group, attended the meeting and provided feedback. The university's Party Secretary, Cong Shuhai, attended the meeting and delivered an important speech.
Secretary Dou Jianmin first reported to everyone on the educational practices carried out by the college since the implementation of the mass line education activities and the initial results achieved. In order to implement the spirit of the Central Committee, under the unified deployment of the educational practice activity leading group of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, from July 2013, the leadership team of the College of Statistics and Management at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics organized and thoroughly carried out the party's mass line education practice activities, focusing on resolving prominent issues strongly reflected by teachers and students. Under the careful guidance of the supervisory group, and with the joint efforts of the college’s party members and cadres and the broad masses of teachers and students, significant results were achieved. Through this educational practice activity, the college leadership team deepened the ideological understanding, purpose consciousness, and mass viewpoint of party members and cadres; engaged in in-depth criticism and self-criticism, and achieved preliminary results in changing work style, implementing rectification, strengthening systems, and building long-term mechanisms.
Member Wang Xiali of the Fifth Supervision Group affirmed the educational practice activities carried out by the School of Statistics and Management and the achievements obtained. In her speech, she particularly mentioned that participating in a democratic life session at the School of Statistics and Management left a deep impression on her. At the meeting, the leadership team of the school engaged in criticism and self-criticism, not only unflinchingly pointing out others' mistakes but also deeply analyzing their own problems and shortcomings. They demonstrated a fearlessness toward criticism and self-criticism, daring to publicly acknowledge and correct their own flaws and errors.
Finally, Secretary Cong Shuhai of the Party Committee delivered a speech. While affirming the educational practice activities of the School of Statistics and Management, Secretary Cong put forward requirements for the development of the college from three aspects: pursuing excellence, talent cultivation, and strengthening the connotation construction of the college. Cong Shuhai pointed out that he hopes that through educational practice activities, the college will persistently improve ideological awareness, transform work styles, and unite the hearts of teachers and students. On the basis of maintaining the college's traditional advantages, under the new disciplinary framework, the college should strive to explore the intersections of disciplines, refine new growth points, and aim to build a distinctive advantage and character in the construction of our university's statistics discipline, striving to reach the international first-class level.
