On the afternoon of March 22, 2024, a cooperation signing ceremony between our school and the National Bureau of Statistics was held in Beijing. Kang Yi, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Director of the National Bureau of Statistics, and Liu Yuanchun, President of our school, jointly attended the ceremony and delivered speeches. Sheng Laiyun, Member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the National Bureau of Statistics, and Li Zengquan, Vice President of our school, signed the agreement on behalf of both parties. Liu Aihua, Chief Economist of the National Bureau of Statistics, attended the ceremony.
At the meeting, Director Kang Yi expressed gratitude to Shanghai University of Finance and Economics for its assistance and support in statistical work. He stated that the signing of this cooperation agreement is a strong measure to deeply implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speeches and instructions on statistical work as well as his important discussions on education. The cooperation between both parties is beneficial for advancing the modernization reform of statistics, promoting the organic integration of statistical theory and practice, and achieving resource sharing and complementary advantages.
President Liu Yuanchun, in his speech, recalled the cooperative origins between the National Bureau of Statistics and Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. He emphasized that Shanghai University of Finance and Economics will take the signing of the agreement as an opportunity to further deepen practical cooperation with the National Bureau of Statistics, focusing on key difficulties in the reform of statistical modernization, actively promoting statistical research exploration, intensifying research efforts, deepening statistical teaching reform, enhancing the quality and efficiency of training, strengthening data development cooperation, and deeply tapping into data value. Efforts will be made to create more replicable and promotable experience outcomes in service of Chinese-style modernization through statistical modernization.
At the ceremony, under the joint witness of Director Kang Yi and Principal Liu Yuanchun, both parties officially signed the cooperation agreement.
The heads of the National Bureau of Statistics Office, Personnel Department, Statistical Education and Training Center, and Statistical Scientific Research Institute, as well as relevant leaders from our university's Party Committee, President's Office, Cooperation and Development Office, School of Statistics and Management, School of Lifelong Education, and Beijing Research Institute participated in the event.
