On November 22, 2025, the "New Era Application of Statistics and Data Science Seminar and the 11th National Young Statisticians Forum" was successfully held at the School of Statistics and Data Science of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. This conference brought together experts and young scholars from several universities, including Peking University, Fudan University, Jiangsu Normal University, Nankai University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, and Xiamen University, to engage in in-depth discussions on cutting-edge topics such as statistics, data science, and artificial intelligence, and to share the latest research findings. The event aimed to promote communication and cooperation among young scholars and jointly explore the future development paths of the discipline.
The conference was opened by Dean Feng Xingdong of the School of Statistics and Data Science. Dean Feng first warmly welcomed experts and scholars from all over the country on behalf of the school, and sincerely thanked colleagues who have long been concerned about and supported the development of the statistics discipline at our university. He pointed out that with the continuous emergence of new technologies such as big data and artificial intelligence, the discipline of statistics is facing new historical opportunities and a higher level of disciplinary mission. Statistics not only needs to continually expand its theoretical boundaries but also must play a core role in application scenarios such as data science, financial technology, and intelligent governance.
