On December 2, 2023, the School of Statistics and Management successfully held the 9th National Young Statisticians Forum and the 2023 Shanghai Universities Young Scholars Forum at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. This forum was jointly organized by the School of Statistics and Management and the Institute of Data Science and Statistics. The theme of the forum was “Theoretical Methods and Applications of Modern Statistics and Data Science.” Many well-known domestic statisticians were invited to attend the forum, and the opening ceremony was hosted by Huang Tao, the Associate Dean of the School of Statistics and Management.
At the opening ceremony, Yang Hui, the secretary of the School of Statistics and Management, delivered a welcome speech, representing the college to welcome the attending scholars.
After the opening ceremony, the forum moved into the exciting session of academic reports. This forum invited 16 outstanding domestic young statisticians to present academic reports on-site, sharing their latest research achievements. The academic atmosphere was strong, and after each speaker's presentation, there was ample discussion.
The forum provides opportunities for young statistical scholars nationwide to learn and exchange ideas, helping to promote the development of statistics, data science, and related fields. From 2015 to 2023, the National Youth Statisticians Forum has been held for nine consecutive sessions, becoming a highly influential and high-quality academic forum in the domestic field of statistics. The forum not only facilitates interdisciplinary academic exchanges but also provides convenience for universities seeking to recruit statistical talents.
