On April 8, the Ministry of Education launched the nationwide "One-on-One" initiative to support employment and entrepreneurship for graduates from universities in Hubei Province. A total of 48 universities across the country were selected for one-on-one assistance with 48 universities in Hubei, aiming to explore employment channels together, enhance employment guidance jointly, share high-quality teaching resources, and improve employment management levels collaboratively. Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, as a supporting university, and Hubei University of Economics, as the aided university, responded actively. The two universities quickly established channels for employment support information. Zhu Mingxiong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, personally issued instructions, and the university's Youth League Committee provided comprehensive guidance. The Statistical Research Society of the School of Statistics and Management at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics co-hosted this graduate sharing session with Hubei University of Economics. Graduates who participated in the sharing reflected on their journey from the end of their university studies, sharing experiences from the perspective of those who have gone before, helping younger students clarify their future paths, learn from each other, and grow together.

On May 22 at 18:00, the graduate sharing session was held online. Professor Wu Chunjie, Vice Dean of the School of Statistics and Management at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, and Teacher Shi Lin from the Employment Guidance Department of the Employment and Entrepreneurship Guidance Center at Hubei University of Economics participated in this event. The session invited several guests, including Chen Wenqi, who successfully applied to Harvard University for a major in Data Science; Chen Mengzhi, who is studying Econometrics and Quantitative Economics at Duke University; Teng Jiaye, a direct doctoral student in Theoretical Computer Science (Yao Class) at Tsinghua University; Yan Yi, who is majoring in Financial Technology at Fudan University; Chen Xinyi, who is employed at L'Oreal; and Xiong Jie, who works at Procter & Gamble. Additionally, over 260 students from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and Hubei University of Economics, which is a partner institution in the "One-on-One Support between National Universities and Hubei Universities" program launched in April this year, attended the sharing session.
The event first opened with a speech by Teacher Wu Chunjie. Teacher Wu briefly introduced the college's first-class talent cultivation plan, which is based on the needs for statistical talents and social talents in the data era, focusing on providing a broader platform for the cultivation of interdisciplinary and innovative talents. The purpose of this event is to share experiences, learn from each other, and grow together, and students from Hubei University of Economics are welcome to participate in the activities at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. In addition, the "first-class discipline" of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics—Statistics—was briefly introduced.

The lecture officially began, with six graduates sharing their experiences in three areas: studying abroad, studying domestically, and employment, all based on their four years of university experience. They provided insights on goal selection, academic planning, research practice, and social internships. The participating students actively asked questions, and the graduates provided detailed answers to the various questions raised.

The event lasted for 2 hours and concluded successfully. Teacher Shi Lin, on behalf of Hubei University of Economics, expressed gratitude to Shanghai University of Finance and Economics for providing the opportunity for this sharing session. She mentioned that the sharing session helped learn about the "first-class" talent cultivation model, which will positively aid the college's talent development in the future. Teacher Wu Chunjie also looks forward to strengthening exchanges with Hubei University of Economics, with more discussions in areas such as talent cultivation and faculty co-construction.
The college relies on Shanghai’s first-class undergraduate construction leading project—“First-Class Undergraduate Major Construction,” “First-Class Undergraduate Talent Cultivation Base Construction,” and the educational reform project for the Statistics major—Wenwen Plan. Taking the “Four Returns” as the starting point, we implement the fundamental task of “moral education and talent cultivation,” continuously expanding innovative talent cultivation models, and training more outstanding talents with innovative awareness and ability, who can adapt to and lead society. At the same time, the college actively responds to the calls from higher authorities, fully considers the characteristics of the school’s educational type, employment work, and the needs of supported universities. After thorough consultation with Hubei University of Economics, we clarified the objectives and specific measures for assistance, fulfilled the supportive mechanism advocated in the policy, jointly improved the level of employment management, and innovated the “one-on-one assistance” approach. During the challenging period of fighting against the pandemic, we shared experiences in further education and employment of graduates through online live broadcasts and “cloud” sharing, promoting mutual connectivity and progress between the teachers and students of both universities.
