On the afternoon of January 13, 2024, the second members' representative assembly of the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics Alumni Association's School of Statistics and Management, as well as the first meeting of the second council, was grandly held at the International Conference Center of the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics Science and Technology Park. Nearly 110 participants attended the meeting, including Chen Hongmei, director of the Cooperation and Development Office of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, members of the leadership team of the School of Statistics and Management, advisory committee members of the alumni association's School of Statistics and Management branch, candidates for council members, and alumni representatives from various graduating classes. The meeting was hosted by Yang Hui, secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Statistics and Management. Zhu Mingxiong, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, delivered a speech at the meeting.
Yang Hui warmly welcomed all alumni gathering at their alma mater for the meeting and expressed gratitude for the support and concern from a large number of alumni for the development of the School of Statistics and Management.
Feng Xingdong, the Dean of the School of Statistics and Management, presented the development report of the School of Statistics and Management. He reviewed the development history of the statistics discipline since its establishment in 1946, and introduced the achievements of the school in terms of faculty, talent training, scientific research, and social services. He prospectively outlined the future development vision of the School of Statistics and Management.
Subsequently, Dean Feng Xingdong presented the "Outstanding Contribution Award of the Teaching Advisory Committee for the Master's Program in Applied Statistics of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics" to alumni Jin Wenzhong and Li Xunlei, thanking them for their active participation and valuable suggestions, which made outstanding contributions to the reform and development of the Master's education in Applied Statistics and talent cultivation at the college.
Afterwards, Jin Wenzhong, the first president of the Alumni Association of the School of Statistics and Management, presented the work report of the council. He introduced the basic situation of the Alumni Association of the School of Statistics and Management. Over the past six years, the Alumni Association has united efforts and made great strides, focusing on organizational and cultural development, improving the alumni network, leveraging alumni synergy, holding a variety of alumni events, assisting the college in educational efforts, supporting the development of the college in many ways, and enhancing the social influence of both the college and the university. This has resulted in significant achievements in serving alumni development, supporting the alma mater’s growth, and contributing to social development. Finally, he shared some thoughts on the future work of the Alumni Association of the college.
Conference Election
During the election and turnover session of the conference, Chen Hongmei, Director of the Cooperative Development Office and Secretary-General of the Alumni Association of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, delivered a speech and read the "Approval on the Re-election of the Alumni Association of the School of Statistics and Management at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics."
The Secretary-General of the Alumni Association of the School of Statistics and Management, Alumni Yang Jianmin, introduced to the attendees the composition of representatives for the Second Member Representative Assembly and the process for selecting candidates for the Council Directors.
Upon a show of hands by all attending representatives, the election of the second council of the Alumni Association’s School of Statistics and Management was conducted, and the "Rules of Procedure for the Alumni Association of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, School of Statistics and Management" was approved.
Alumni Association Statistics and Management School Branch Second Council First Meeting
Subsequently, the first meeting of the second council of the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics Alumni Association Statistics and Management School Branch was convened. The meeting elected the main responsible persons and executive council members of the second council of the Statistics and Management School Branch, and approved the list of advisory committee members. The meeting also voted to pass the "Financial Management Measures of the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics Alumni Association Statistics and Management School Branch."
Afterwards, alumni of the second council of the Alumni Association of the School of Statistics and Management, President Jin Wenzhong, Executive President Jiang Guowei, Secretary-General Yang Jianmin, and Executive Secretary-General Guan Zhouhai spoke in turn. They expressed a deep sense of responsibility and commitment to fulfilling their duties, striving to meet the expectations of the school and the alumni community. They emphasized the importance of effectively managing the work of the alumni association, actively playing the role of a bridge and link among alumni, uniting alumni strengths, integrating alumni resources, promoting in-depth interactions between alumni and the school, and continuously empowering the school's high-quality development.
Appointment Ceremony
In order to better promote alumni work, the Alumni Association of the School of Statistics and Management has established an Alumni Work Advisory Committee. Zhu Mingxiong, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, presented the appointment letters to representatives of the Alumni Work Advisory Committee of the college's alumni association.
Alumni Association Advisory Committee Member of the School of Statistics and Management, Member of the Board of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Vice President of the Alumni Association, President of the Beijing Representative Office of the Alumni Association, and former leader of the inspection team of the Party Committee of the Export-Import Bank of China, Alumni Representative Yang Qing spoke. He expressed gratitude to the school and the college for nurturing past students. The teachers of the college's patient guidance and exemplary conduct are an important guarantee for statistical students to achieve success in various fields. He further urged alumni to actively give back to the college and the school, making greater contributions to the development of their alma mater.
Speech by School Leadership
Zhu Mingxiong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, delivered a speech. In his speech, he introduced the main developments and construction of the school in recent years, as well as several key initiatives currently being advanced. On behalf of the school, he warmly congratulated the successful convening of the conference and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the vast number of alumni who have long cared for and supported the school's construction and development. He acknowledged the achievements made by the Alumni Association of the School of Statistics and Management over the past six years and expressed hope that under the leadership of the new council, the alumni association could create a cultural brand unique to the school, consolidate the strength of alumni to innovate the various works of the association, further integrate the alumni association’s efforts with the various development endeavors of the school, and promote deep cooperation between the school and alumni in areas such as teaching and research, talent recruitment, social service, school-enterprise cooperation, as well as student internships and employment, achieving mutual benefits and wins between alumni and their alma mater, and jointly writing a new chapter in serving the development of alumni and the alma mater. Finally, he sincerely invited all alumni to visit the school often.

The college "Alumni Home" unveiled
On the morning of January 13, the unveiling ceremony of the "Alumni Home" of the School of Statistics and Management was held on the fourth floor of the main building of the School of Statistics and Management. The "Alumni Home" was built through the joint efforts of the Alumni Association's branch of the School of Statistics and Management and the School of Statistics and Management, aiming to establish a platform to enhance the connection between alumni and the college, becoming a stopping point for alumni to connect with each other, a harbor for spiritual rest, and to achieve a resonance of common interests and a win-win cooperation between alumni and the college.
