On the afternoon of October 28, 2014, a delegation led by Luo Lin, the Vice Dean of the College of Science at Shanghai Second Polytechnic University, visited our institute for a research exchange. Our institute's Vice Dean Wu Chunjie, Vice Dean You Jinhong, and Feng Xingdong participated in the discussion. The two sides conducted in-depth discussions on the talent cultivation and teaching plans for the secondary specialty of Applied Statistics under the primary discipline of Statistics.
Vice Dean Rowling introduced the setup and training situation of the Applied Statistics program at ErGong University, and explained how to better develop the Applied Statistics program based on the school's requirement to significantly reduce credits. Vice Dean You Jinhong suggested integrating the university's advantageous disciplines for interdisciplinary development, such as in the direction of Industrial Statistics. Vice Dean Wu Chunjie introduced our college's undergraduate program in Applied Statistics and talent cultivation plans, and provided an in-depth introduction to the reform of our general education, which received unanimous approval from both sides. Assistant Feng suggested that the other party offer a series of specialized courses such as "Experimental Design," "Reliability Statistics," and "Quality Control," and to develop a differentiated approach in alignment with our university's focus on Financial Statistics.
Vice Dean Rowling expressed affirmation of our college's undergraduate teaching development and hopes that our college can provide more assistance in faculty cooperation and talent delivery. At the same time, both colleges expressed their intention to strengthen cooperation, communication, and exchange experiences in the future, jointly promoting the development of the statistics discipline.
