On December 20, 2018, Teacher Chen Jingjun from Jinyuan Middle School in Shanghai brought 49 third-year students to visit and exchange ideas with the School of Statistics and Management. Our institute's vice dean, Wu Chunjie, received the visiting teachers and students and organized an exchange meeting. Teacher Song Bingchao from our school's admissions office also participated in the exchange meeting.

Jinyuan Senior High School was designated as a Shanghai Experimental Demonstration High School in 2005, and it is one of the eleven demonstration boarding high schools built by the Shanghai municipal government.
This visit and exchange first included a tour of the statistics laboratory, where Vice Dean Wu Chunjie introduced the specific situation of the laboratory to the students from Jinyuan High School. The statistics teaching laboratory is equipped with statistical application software such as SAS, R, and MATLAB, and undertakes the experimental course teaching for undergraduate and graduate students in our college and the School of Economics. It helps develop students' modeling and programming skills and supports an exploratory, personalized, and theory-practice integrated student training model.

The following themed exchange seminar on "Reform and Practice of Innovative Talent Cultivation in Statistics" was presented by Professor Wu Chunjie, Vice Dean of the School of Statistics and Management, with Teacher Song Bingchao from the Admissions Office as the host. Students from Jinyuan Middle School and some teachers attended this meeting.

Vice Dean Wu Chunjie first introduced several interesting everyday examples, highlighting that statistics is closely related to our lives and that there is a huge talent gap in the field of data analysis. Next, Vice Dean Wu Chunjie elaborated on the measures and achievements of the School of Statistics and Management in cultivating innovative statistical talent from the perspectives of faculty expertise, internationalized teaching, internship bases, competition platforms, social practice, and the nurturing of students' innovative awareness and humanistic sentiments.
In recent years, the School of Statistics and Management has developed rapidly, attracting the attention of an increasing number of outstanding students. The enrollment situation and student quality have improved year by year. The college will rely on the construction of first-class disciplines and first-class demonstration base projects to continue deepening the innovative talent training model in statistics, always focusing on the overall development of students, and creating all favorable conditions to provide the best teaching resources and communication platforms for students.
