The "Special Training Course on the Development of the Third Economic Census Data" organized by the Statistical Bureaus of various districts in Shenzhen has successfully concluded.

From November 25 to 27, 2015, a three-day special training session on "Development of Third Economic Census Data" organized by the statistical bureaus of various districts in Shenzhen was held at the School of Statistics and Management, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. Although the training program had a tight schedule, the School of Statistics and Management and the Shenzhen Statistical Information Training Center had started planning and preparing for it back in early summer, and meticulous preparation laid a solid foundation for the smooth conduct of the training.

On the morning of November 25th at 9 AM, the opening ceremony of the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics - Shenzhen District Statistical Bureau "Third Economic Census Data Development" special training class was held in the lecture hall on the first floor of our college. First, the Party Secretary of our college, Tu Tianfeng, delivered a welcome speech and introduced the overview of our college and the current development and advantages of our university's statistics program. Then, Director Peng Kui of the Shenzhen Futian District Statistical Bureau spoke on behalf of the participants of the special training class. Teacher Yu Dingwei from the college training center hosted the opening ceremony.

After the opening ceremony, Dr. Chen Guangxin, Vice President of the Shanghai Statistical Society, gave a keynote lecture titled "A Discussion on the Development and Utilization of the Data from the Third Economic Census." Dr. Chen Guangxin focused mainly on the aspects of census and economic census, the development of the third economic census data at the district and county levels, and statistical writing in the era of big data. Due to his years of experience as the Deputy Director of the Development and Reform Commission of Zhabei District, Dr. Chen is very familiar with statistics at the district and street levels. Participants responded that the report was very relevant and targeted.

On the afternoon of November 25, Professor Ge Shouzhong from the School of Statistics and Management gave a talk titled "Reform and Adjustment of China's National Economic Accounting System." Professor Ge mainly explained the revised background; the principles of the revision; a checklist of revision issues; several important revisions of the 2008 SNA and their analysis in a straightforward manner for the participants. Having participated in multiple national and provincial social science fund projects, Professor Ge was able to effortlessly bring up examples during the lecture that left a deep impression on the participants.

On the morning of November 26, Dai Qingyu, Deputy Director of the Information Center of the Shanghai Free Trade Zone, gave a keynote speech on "The Statistical Undertakings of the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone and the Challenges It Faces." He mainly explained the basic situation of bonded area statistics; reform and innovation in the pilot free trade zone; challenges faced by the statistical undertakings; and thoughts and attempts at statistical reform and innovation. Many participants engaged in interactive discussions with him, relating to their own work.

On the afternoon of November 26, Chinese Certified Public Accountant and Associate Professor Song Xiaoman delivered a keynote speech titled "Factor Analysis of the Chinese Securities Market and Interpretation of Financial Statements of Listed Companies." Based on his thirty years of theoretical and practical experience, he primarily taught the students from several aspects: knowledge of the financial statement framework; key points for reading financial statements; identification of the quality of financial statement information; and analysis and application. As the content presented by Associate Professor Song Xiaoman was a topic of interest to many students, the attendees found that the three hours of the lecture had significantly exceeded the time without them even realizing it.


On the morning of November 27, Professor Zhou Yong, the dean of our academy, delivered a report titled "Opportunities and Challenges for Statistics in the Era of Big Data." In recent years, "Big Data" has become a hot topic of concern among various parties including the internet, news media, academic institutions, and government enterprise managers. However, in the era of big data, statistics has also encountered unprecedented opportunities and challenges. This report focused on the analytical techniques and methods of financial big data, particularly the risks and management issues faced by internet finance. With his extensive knowledge and the vision of a leading figure in the discipline, Professor Zhou made the participants of the specialized training program feel that the confusions they had long been unable to resolve were addressed. Through his powerful and resonant speech, he conveyed the idea that in the era of big data, statisticians will welcome a beautiful spring. Before the lecture concluded, Dean Zhou awarded each participant a certificate of completion.
