On November 28, 2017, the School of Statistics and Management held a mobilization meeting for the construction of "first-class disciplines" in the college meeting room, with all faculty members in attendance. Dean Zhou Yong, Vice Deans You Jinhong and Wu Chunjie, and Assistant Deans Feng Xindong and Huang Tao each reported on the work of discipline construction over the past five years. Dean Zhou Yong proposed the current discipline construction goals and the long-term task of building "first-class disciplines," calling on all faculty members to contribute to the construction of "first-class disciplines."

At the beginning of the meeting, Dean Zhou Yong reviewed the achievements and existing issues of the college in the past five years in terms of discipline construction, faculty team, teaching development, scientific research, academic platforms, talent cultivation, and academic exchanges. Compared to the achievements during the "Eleventh Five-Year" and "Twelfth Five-Year" periods, the college has made remarkable progress in the early stage of the "Thirteenth Five-Year" period. Dean Zhou Yong fully acknowledged the hard work of all the teachers and encouraged them to remain humble and diligent, striving for greater breakthroughs in teaching, producing research results with international influence, and contributing to the construction of first-class disciplines. Dean Zhou Yong's speech inspired everyone and boosted morale, eliciting warm applause throughout the venue.

Next, Vice Dean You Jinhong and Wu Chunjie reported on the work situation of graduate and undergraduate students over the past five years, respectively. Assistant Dean Huang Tao and Feng Xingdong provided specific reports on the college's research and the work of the "Institute of Data Science and Statistics," respectively.

The mobilization conference provided a report that gave all teachers a deep understanding of the overall development of the college, as well as a clearer awareness of the college's "13th Five-Year Plan" and the goal of building "first-class disciplines." The college teachers, especially the young and middle-aged backbone members, felt a great sense of responsibility. Following the meeting, all work of the college will be coordinated and promoted under an overall layout, ensuring implementation and striving for more significant progress.
