From July 9 to 12, 2022, the School of Statistics and Management successfully held the "From Statistics to Artificial Intelligence - Reinforcement Learning International Seminar" online.

Reinforcement learning is one of the fastest-growing and most popular topics in the field of machine learning and artificial intelligence today. The ideas and methods of statistics have had a profound impact on its birth and development. This seminar aims to let domestic and international statisticians understand the latest hotspots in the field of reinforcement learning and explore new intersections between statistics and deep learning. The seminar is jointly hosted by the School of Statistics and Management of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and the Institute of Data Science and Statistics, co-organized by the Applied Reinforcement Learning Seminar and the Shanghai Data Science and Decision-Making Frontier Scientific Research Base, and supported by Shanghai Mingshi Investment Management Co., Ltd.
The opening ceremony was hosted by Professor Feng Xindong, the Dean of the School of Statistics and Management.

The seminar lasted four days and invited outstanding scholars from both domestic and international backgrounds, including Fan Jianqing and Chen Zengjing, to give presentations.
