On the afternoon of March 18, 2014, a "College Cultural Construction Symposium" led by the union, with participation from party and government leaders as well as all faculty members, was held in room 1316 of the School of Statistics and Management. The symposium was divided into two sessions based on the four departments. The meeting was chaired by Union Chairman Shao Jianli, with attendance from Party and Government leaders Dean Zhou Yong, Secretary Tu Tianfeng, and 30 faculty members.
At the meeting, each teacher first introduced themselves; then everyone widely expressed their opinions on the construction of the college culture and various aspects of the school's development. These opinions and suggestions involved increasing the college's revenue, leadership's concern for the public, building the college into a warm home, caring for retired staff, strengthening publicity for the college, increasing college activities to enhance cohesion, and so on. The atmosphere at the meeting was lively, vibrant, and harmonious, with everyone speaking freely and providing many valuable and positive suggestions for both the college and the school.
Dean Zhou Yong made an interspersed speech, pointing out that the college hopes to drive everyone's sense of participation and identity through cultural construction; everyone should have a sense of responsibility and be willing to take charge, so that the college can feel like a family; veteran colleagues and teachers should take the lead and set an exemplary role for young teachers; one should be positive, be proactive, and exert positive energy.
Finally, Secretary Tu Tianfeng made a concluding speech. She said that this seminar had changed her impression of the teachers at the School of Statistics; it turned out to be a very thoughtful and vibrant faculty team. She addressed some of the questions and comments from the teachers and will follow up on each one after the meeting. She pointed out that the new leadership team of the college has just been formed and stabilized, and there is a lot of work that requires everyone's support. We will strive to enhance the college's revenue generation and institutional development. We need to focus on both spiritual civilization and material construction to create a healthy and harmonious working environment for everyone. Through this seminar, we have better understood everyone's demands, allowing us to serve everyone more effectively. We strive to ensure that the School of Statistics and Management ranks among the top in discipline construction while also making breakthroughs in the creation of a "spiritual civilization unit" within the school.
