The 2024 Alumni Navigation Mentor Teacher Student Meeting of the School of Statistics and Management was successfully held

In order to actively gather the strength of alumni and explore collaborative education mechanisms, build an interactive communication platform between alumni and students, and continue to promote the alumni guidance mentor project, on the morning of March 30, 2024, the "Alumni Guidance Mentor" teacher-student meeting of the School of Statistics and Management for 2024 was successfully held in Conference Room 1316 of the college. Yang Hui, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Statistics and Management, Zhuang Mei, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Wang Yuqin, Organization Officer of the Party Committee, Guan Zhouhai, Executive Secretary General of the Alumni Branch of the School, representatives of alumni guidance mentors from different industries, and more than 20 undergraduate and graduate students from the School participated in the event.



Yang Hui, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Statistics and Management, delivered a speech on behalf of the school. She warmly welcomed the representatives of alumni mentors who attended the meeting and expressed sincere gratitude to all the alumni who participated in the alumni mentor program for their selfless dedication. She stated that the "Alumni Mentor Navigation Program" aims to fully mobilize the power of alumni to assist the work of the school's talent training center, caring for students' growth and development from all aspects such as student ideological guidance, academic progress, life guidance, physical and mental health, and career development. We look forward to continuously expanding the work space of alumni through this event, gathering alumni to assist in talent cultivation at the school. We also hope that students will cherish valuable opportunities to actively participate in various activities, actively interact and communicate with alumni mentors, and grow better with the help of mentors.




On behalf of the Alumni Association of the College, Guan Zhouhai, Executive Secretary General of the Alumni Association, stated that since the launch of the "Alumni Mentor Navigation Program" in 2024, the Alumni Association has cooperated with the College to complete the recruitment of mentors in a very short period of time. The Alumni Association will continue to serve as a bridge between the College and alumni, explore more diverse platforms and activities, and cooperate with the College to effectively play the role of alumni mentors. At the same time, he also advocates that alumni visit their alma mater more often and participate in alumni club activities.

The alumni mentors who participated in the event spoke one by one, introducing the situation in their respective industries, sharing their growth and career experiences, and expressing their willingness to do their best to provide more help and guidance for the younger students.


Chen Chen, an alumnus, stated that this is his third time serving as an alumni mentor. Due to the impact of the pandemic on offline activities in the past two years, he has been somewhat affected. He looks forward to having more in-depth exchanges with his classmates through more offline activities to help them solve their difficulties in academics, employment, and other aspects.



Qian Yiyun, an alumnus, shared his experiences of studying and working across different majors, as well as the gains and growth that this experience brought to him. He encouraged his classmates to set goals and be brave enough to try.


Deng Chunshan, an alumnus, mentioned that his sugar and liquor group needs a large number of statistics and data science talents in the process of modernization transformation. He hopes that students can broaden their career horizons, play to their strengths in the modernization transformation of traditional industries, and realize their life value.


Alumni Xu Huang introduced the development history and current business segments of China Post Group. In addition to the traditional postal service, the Postal Group also offers financial services such as Postal Savings Bank, China Post Securities, and China Post Insurance, and requires a large number of talents in statistics, finance, and other fields. He stated that he will provide assistance for college students' internships and employment.


Li Yuhai, an alumnus, said that every industry has its shining moments and low periods. He hopes that students will not be fixated on the choice of track when choosing a career, find their own interests, and work hard to cultivate.


Based on his previous work experience as a part-time counselor, alumnus Ni Wei believes that the Alumni Navigation Mentor Program is a very good model of positive interaction. By guiding students' academic and career development, they can achieve mutual success and realize two-way value-added.


Liu Ruizhi, an alumnus, emphasized the importance of solid professional knowledge and hoped that students would lay a solid foundation in their majors during their school years. He stated that as an alumnus mentor, he will play a bridging role and provide students with more perspectives and assistance. He instructed his classmates to have three qualities, namely, a strong sense of righteousness, a strong sense of development, and the courage to face difficulties.


Chen Guang, an alumnus, said that his graduation years are the shortest among his mentors, and the age gap with current students is relatively small, making it easier for him to understand what his classmates are thinking. He will communicate more with his classmates and try his best to provide more help.


Zheng Linlin, an alumnus, hopes that students can have a long-term vision when choosing a career, not just focus on immediate salary. It is recommended that students determine their direction and fully devote themselves to achieving greater value through continuous self-improvement.


After the speech, Yang Hui, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Statistics and Management, presented the "Mentor Appointment Letter" to the alumni leader mentor representatives who attended the meeting.



















In the interactive communication session, the attending students had lively discussions and exchanges with alumni mentors on academic research, internships, employment, industry development, goal selection, and other aspects. The mentors patiently and meticulously shared their rich experience in academic research, career development, industry analysis, etc. with the students, providing valuable advice and inspiration with their personal experiences and unique perspectives.


After the exchange and discussion, the college teachers, alumni, and students took a group photo at the entrance of the college.


The successful hosting of the "Alumni Leading Mentor" event not only provides strong support for talent cultivation in the college, but also builds a bridge of emotional connection between alumni and their alma mater, as well as with current students. In the future, the alumni branch of the college will organize various forms of activities to assist mentors in guiding paired students.
