Time flies, time flies like a shuttle. Thirty years of spring and autumn have passed, but what remains unchanged is the youthful charm of the alumni and the long-lasting friendship with their alma mater. On May 31, 2025, coinciding with the Dragon Boat Festival, the 1995 alumni of Statistics gathered on campus from all directions with longing and attachment to their alma mater, celebrating the 30th anniversary of graduation, reliving their youth, and continuing their love for their alma mater.

At the beginning of the event, Cao Erning, a representative of the 1995 Statistics alumni, passionately introduced the background of the donation. In a warm and solemn atmosphere, the representative of the donor and the person in charge of the recipient jointly signed a donation agreement. Feng Xingdong, Dean of the School of Statistics and Data Science, and Wu Jiarui, Deputy Director of the Cooperation and Development Department and Deputy Secretary General of the Foundation, jointly presented donation certificates to the representative of the donor to thank them for their support for the construction of the college.

In his speech, Wu Jiarui, Deputy Director of the Cooperative Development Department and Deputy Secretary General of the Foundation at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, first expressed sincere gratitude to the alumni for their generous donations. She stated that the foundation will strictly manage and use funds reasonably to help the construction of statistical disciplines to a higher level. At the same time, she also hopes that the deep friendship between alumni and their alma mater can illuminate the growth path of more students, inspire them to study hard, and give back to society.

During the symposium, Feng Xingdong, Dean of the School of Statistics and Data Science, extended the warmest welcome and sincerest greetings to the alumni who came from afar on behalf of the school. He provided a detailed overview of the development of the college in various aspects in recent years, from subject introductions to faculty building, from talent cultivation to scientific research, from social services to alumni work. Each achievement embodies the hard work and sweat of the college's faculty and students. With the booming development of data science and digital economy, the Department of Statistics has ushered in unprecedented opportunities with broad prospects and great potential. We hope that alumni can continue to pay attention to the development of the college and provide suggestions for its progress.

During the interactive session, Teacher Jin Weizhong, as the homeroom teacher of the alumni, reminisced deeply about the moments he spent with his classmates. From classroom teaching to interesting stories in the dormitory, one after another, the memories seemed like they were just yesterday, causing laughter and warmth in the conference room. Ms. Huang Linfang warmly welcomed the arrival of her classmates. Based on her years of teaching experience, she delved into the characteristics of a "solid foundation" in statistics and expressed confidence in the future development of the discipline. She also sent deep wishes to her classmates. Teacher Zhu Mingxiong also reminisced about his past campus life with his classmates, thanking them for returning to their alma mater amidst their busy schedules and sending them the beautiful wishes of the Dragon Boat Festival. He hopes that everyone will come home often to visit.

Chen Xiaosheng and Wang Shaobin, as alumni representatives, spoke and deeply reviewed their life experiences over the past thirty years since graduation. They lamented that the study of statistics not only laid a solid knowledge foundation for them, but also cultivated rigorous thinking and a solid work style, which benefited them greatly in their respective professional fields. They sincerely appreciate the cultivation of the college and the guidance of the teachers, and send their best wishes to the students. They hope that everyone will cherish this friendship, keep in touch and interact more.

After the discussion and exchange session, Yang Hui, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Statistics and Data Science, solemnly presented the appointment letters of alumni liaison ambassadors to alumni Cao Erning and Wang Shaobin, hoping that they could continue to play a bridging role, strengthen the connection between alumni and their alma mater, gather more alumni's strength, and jointly contribute to the development of the school. In his concluding speech, Secretary Yang Hui once again expressed his sincerest gratitude to the alumni for their continuous attention and support to the parent school of his alma mater. She stated that the development of the college cannot be separated from the care and assistance of alumni. She hopes that all alumni can actively participate in the work of "alumni guidance mentors" and use their own experience and wisdom to guide the growth of younger students. At the same time, she warmly welcomes alumni to return to the college on the upcoming 80th anniversary of its establishment, to witness the achievements of the college together and discuss the development plan of the college.

At the end of the event, alumni moved to the front of the college building and together took a precious photo of this unforgettable moment. The camera captures not only the brilliant smiles of alumni, but also the deep friendship between them and their alma mater. I believe that in the future, alumni and their alma mater will continue to work together to write a more brilliant chapter for the School of Statistics and Data Science.
