---ESG investment in the context of carbon neutrality
On the afternoon of April 18, 2023, our institution invited Ms. Wang Yongqing, Senior Analyst at Huabao Fund, to give a lecture on "ESG Investment under the Background of Carbon Neutrality".
Professor Wang Yongqing is a senior analyst at Huabao Fund, with dual degrees in Statistics and Finance from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, and a Master's degree in Applied Statistics from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, both in the 12th grade. Formerly served as the head of ESG research at Huazheng Index. The team is committed to building a sustainable ESG evaluation system for Huabao Fund, integrating ESG investment research processes, developing sustainable investment strategies, and carrying out PRI Climate Action CA100+and Huabao Fund Sustainable Responsible Management projects. Huabao Fund Management Co., Ltd., to which Teacher Wang Yongqing belongs, was established on March 7, 2003. It is one of the first Sino foreign joint venture fund management companies in China and also the first Sino foreign joint venture fund management company initiated by a trust company and a foreign asset management company. At the same time, the company is one of the first domestic asset management institutions to join PRI (2018), a member of the first council of the Green and Gold Committee, and a member of the Green and Sustainable Special Committee of the Fund Industry Association. Even before the national dual carbon target was proposed, Huabao Fund had already conducted research and practice on ESG investment.
At the beginning of the forum, Teacher Wang Yongqing first introduced the increasingly severe global climate crisis and the urgent need to address climate change. The IPCC has released a global climate change report, and the climate crisis is becoming increasingly severe. With the signing of the Paris Agreement and the establishment of carbon neutrality targets, addressing climate change and low-carbon green transformation will have a profound impact on global economic and social development.
Afterwards, Professor Wang Yongqing introduced in detail the specific research methods and results of low-carbon investment and ESG investment applied in the financial field, focusing on two overseas cases: BlackRock's promotion of green office and low-carbon investment, and the Norwegian government's global pension fund's climate risk response investment. The teacher introduces the latest ESG evaluation system and ESG database based on ESG investment strategies, and supports investment research decisions. Finally, Teacher Wang Yongqing briefly described the latest ESG shareholder actions to encourage global investment institutions to actively participate in ESG investments.
During the questioning session, students actively and enthusiastically raised questions about the application and future development trends of ESG investment in the financial industry. Teacher Wang Yongqing patiently answered each question, and the students also benefited greatly. Through this industry forum, students have gained a deeper understanding of ESG investment based on carbon neutrality.
