Regarding 'Trying'
Looking back at my four years of campus life, it was undoubtedly exciting yet tortuous. Whenever it was something that interested me, I would strive to try and find myself through repeated "trial and error".
During my freshman year, I joined the Youth League Committee Office of the college, met many colleagues, and planned and organized many campus activities together; At the same time, I also joined the school's women's basketball team for training, and the regular training three times a week allowed me to make rapid progress in basketball skills and physical fitness. I also learned a lot from the senior members of the women's basketball team. During my sophomore year, I also participated in many extracurricular practices and competitions, such as the "Knowledge and Action Cup" summer practice activity, the Thousand Village Survey, and the Mathematical Modeling Competition. However, due to online classes during the pandemic, I did not strictly develop my own study plan, which caught me off guard by the heavy review tasks of professional courses before the final exams, resulting in an unsatisfactory GPA. After returning to campus in my sophomore year, I began to realize that my energy and time were limited. I needed to do my best in one thing instead of being involved in everything. At that time, I also started planning to apply for studying abroad and understood the importance of language grades and GPA. Therefore, I focused my main energy on improving my GPA and English learning, and did not participate in any activities except for basketball school team training. My grades have also started to improve this semester. In my junior year, I decided to go to UCB for exchange studies, not only to experience different teaching classrooms and lifestyles, but also to test myself and determine whether I am truly suitable and enjoy studying and living abroad. I think this attempt was the most correct judgment I made in college. Through repeated conversations with professors at Office Hours, I not only improved my academic abilities, but also reflected on the transformation of my learning style and life.

Regarding the 'Challenge Cup'
This story can be traced back to before the summer of 2020, when my seven group members and I became friends through the summer practice of the "Knowledge and Action Cup" and found my life mentor at that time, Mr. Wu Chunjie, as our project guidance teacher. Subsequently, due to our outstanding performance in the "Zhixing Cup", we were recommended to participate in the "Challenge Cup" competition. We were screened layer by layer from the school competition to the city competition, and ultimately won the first prize in the national competition. From the summer of 2020 to March 2022, we were able to achieve these outstanding results thanks to the cooperation of the entire team, and we would like to express our special thanks to our mentors, Mr. Wu Chunjie and Mr. Huang Feng, for their help.
Throughout the entire project, we fully participated in questionnaire design, several company visits, data analysis and modeling, and finally completed the paper. This allowed us to learn how to apply theoretical knowledge in practice, and also gained a lot of experience in giving speeches and writing papers. In terms of topic selection, a good topic means half the success. Generally speaking, it is recommended to choose a topic that combines current hot topics and current policies. For example, our topic is about the epidemic, which has been a hot topic in recent years. The survival and development of small and medium-sized enterprises is also a pain point during the epidemic. After determining the topic, it is necessary to make a rough understanding and plan based on the topic, and then actively communicate with the supervisor according to this preliminary plan. During the project, the team leader plays a very important role. Compared to professional level, a team leader is more important in playing a leading role, allocating tasks to each individual and serving as a bridge for communication between team members and mentors. Each member should actively provide feedback on progress, engage in active communication, and offer various opinions or suggestions. In terms of project summary, it is necessary to pay attention to some details, such as paper revision and image beautification, word for word polishing of speech, etc., at least to ensure correct format, clarity and aesthetics.

Regarding the application
My entire application process was actually a difficult and long-term "battle". In the preparation stage of my sophomore and junior years, I did not even achieve a GPA of 3.3, so I had a lot of GPA pressure during my sophomore and junior years. At that time, I made a strict review plan every week and hardly participated in team building activities. Eventually, I improved to 3.3 or above before going abroad for exchange.
For language preparation, I think we can start preparing as early as possible, because language scores are equivalent to the hardware foundation of the application, and do not need to be too high, but must meet the standards. Generally, TOEFL 105 and GRE325 are good scores.
In terms of internships, it is recommended to set a target major and add internships that are as relevant as possible to supplement the experience. At that time, I had two internships in the finance industry, but as my application direction was biostatistics, I went on to do another internship in pharmaceutical data analysis, which I believe would be helpful for my application.
In the formal application stage, students can organize the information of the professional projects they want to apply for into Excel, including document requirements, etc; Every document needs to be modified in a targeted manner, and sometimes' suitable 'is more competitive than' high three-dimensional '.
