On April 12, 2017, Professor Wang Yongde from Shanghai Conservatory of Music brought five proud students to the School of Statistics and Management to introduce the treasures in the treasure trove of Chinese art to everyone; — Excellent ethnic music.
At the beginning of the lecture, they played two classic pieces of Chinese folk music -; — Xingjie "and" Guangming "represent the delicate Jiangnan culture of popular culture, which brightens everyone's mood, while the representative of elite culture," Guangming Xing, "makes us feel the resounding power of the erhu.
Then Professor Wang Yongde began to explore the development activities of ethnic instrumental music in traditional Chinese culture. He introduced the differences between ethnic instrumental music and ethnic musical instruments, as well as the specific composition of the instrumental music. He pointed out that the Chinese nation has a good tradition of embracing all rivers, and Chinese ethnic music has developed through inheritance. Then he introduced his experience of learning music and personally introduced the ancient Jiahu bone flute and Hemudu bone whistle to everyone, proving that China had musical instruments since 9000 years ago. Then he introduced the eight tone classification system, modern instrument classification system, and diverse combinations of ethnic bands; — Palace harmony songs and cavalry drumming music. Continuing with Professor Wang's two collaborations with Western orchestras, as well as the video of Disney's opening ceremony and Shanghai Symphony Orchestra's performance on June 15th last year; — The playback of 'Long Dreams' showcases the beauty of the dialogue between tradition and modernity. He pointed out that excellent ethnic music is the common wealth of people around the world, and introduced beautiful and moving stories and idioms. By telling the story of Yu Boya, Gao Shan Liu Shui, and Zhong Ziqi; The story of Ji Kang and Guangling San makes us feel that music is to us like fish and water. Then he led everyone to appreciate the music‐ — On a moonlit night in the spring, the music depicts a beautiful river, with a boat slowly sailing in the moonlight, allowing us to further appreciate the beauty of ethnic music.
Then he talked about how ethnic musical instruments have integrated with the world, introducing the Silk Road of music and the spread of musical instruments, as well as the international dissemination and integration since the 21st century. He mentioned that music is language, a window to open up the world, and a bridge to friendship. Professor Wang Yongde encourages everyone to appreciate the beauty of ethnic music, hoping that we can enhance our identification with ethnic culture, confidence in ethnic culture, and self-awareness of ethnic culture, and take the realization of the Chinese Dream as our own responsibility. At the end of the lecture, Teacher Wang and the students came to a successful conclusion with a solo of Guzheng, a rhapsody of Yangqin, and a famous erhu song "War Horse Galloping".
The atmosphere at the lecture was lively and interactive, and students experienced the profoundness of excellent ethnic music through the music. They also listened to the development and changes of traditional culture and ethnic instrumental music. Teacher Wang's vivid narration opened up students' horizons and gave them a lot of benefits.
