On the afternoon of March 26, 2024, our institution invited Mr. Zhu Shizhuo from the Dishui Lake Advanced Finance School of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics to give a lecture on "What exactly ESG is talking about? 》.
Mr. Zhu Shizhuo first started with the basic knowledge of ESG and elaborated on the three core elements of ESG (environment, society, governance) in detail. He pointed out that ESG is not only an investment philosophy, but also a manifestation of corporate responsibility and sustainable development. In the context of global economic integration and increasingly prominent environmental issues, ESG has become an important reference for corporate evaluation and investment decision-making.
During the lecture, Mr. Zhu Shizhuo also conducted an in-depth analysis of the current situation of ESG information disclosure and indicators both domestically and internationally. He revealed to the audience the development trends and tendencies of ESG globally by comparing the differences in ESG initiation, values, focus, and scope of application among different countries.
Mr. Zhu Shizhuo further introduced the basic concepts and processes of ESG rating, and listed several well-known ESG rating agencies. He emphasized the important role of technology in the ESG field, and vividly demonstrated how technology can help the development and practice of ESG by showcasing the effect of technology empowering ESG and combining it with specific cases of Ping An Group.
In the final part of the lecture, Mr. Zhu Shizhuo conducted in-depth discussions on ESG related concepts and issues, and put forward his own insights on the controversies and future development trends of ESG. He encourages industry professionals to actively participate in ESG practices, jointly promoting the sustainable development of enterprises and the harmonious progress of society.
During the questioning session, students raised questions about the ratings of different ESG companies, and teachers patiently answered them one by one. The students also benefited greatly. Through this industry forum, students have gained a deeper understanding of ESG.
