In order to further deepen the training mode of academic top talents, stimulate students' enthusiasm, initiative, and creativity in learning, cultivate scientific research ability and innovative spirit, the School of Statistics and Data Science has carefully established the "Academic Top Research Training Program". As an important part of the project, the 2023 Statistics Experimental Class Top notch Scientific Research Training Program completed its professional literature reading training in April 2025, and on the morning of June 9th, it welcomed the professional literature presentation stage in Conference Room 1208 of the campus building. This event specially invited three teachers from the college, Wu Shuyuan, Luo Yhu, and Teng Jiaye, to serve as judges. 14 project teams participated in it, aiming to comprehensively evaluate students' literature reading training results through literature reports and lay a solid foundation for academic top-notch research training projects

Professional literature reading training is a key way for students to engage with academic frontiers and cultivate research thinking. In the presentation session, each project team focused on their respective topics and extensively studied classic literature and the latest research results in related fields. The students expressed that through this literature reading training, they have learned how to efficiently obtain and screen information, how to deeply analyze the logical structure and research innovation points of literature, and their scientific research thinking and self-learning abilities have been significantly improved.

The three reviewing teachers provided detailed comments and guidance on each group's report based on their rich research experience. They affirmed the rigorous attitude and innovative thinking demonstrated by the students in literature reading, accurately pointed out the highlights in the report, and objectively pointed out the shortcomings, such as some teams still have room for improvement in the depth of literature analysis, and the lack of close integration between literature and their own topics. In response to these issues, teachers have provided specific suggestions from multiple dimensions such as literature reading methods, expanding research perspectives, and constructing research logic.

This professional literature presentation not only provides students with a platform to showcase research results and exchange academic viewpoints, but also fully demonstrates the important significance of literature reading training in the cultivation of top-notch undergraduate talents. Through systematic literature reading and in-depth research training, students are able to access the latest academic trends and cutting-edge knowledge in the fields of statistics and data science, effectively broadening their academic horizons and solidifying their professional foundation.
In the future, our college will continue to adhere to the principle of "people-oriented" and rely on the Shanghai First Class Undergraduate Construction Leading Plan project to further strengthen the undergraduate training mode of solid foundation and broad vision, enhance students' ability to choose diversified development, and focus on building undergraduate "practical innovation training platform" and "professional scientific research training platform". Continue to implement and promote the undergraduate life mentor system, vigorously support students to participate in various scientific research and innovation projects, and cultivate first-class composite statistical talents.
