Notice on the Selection of Undergraduate Students from the School of Statistics and Data Science for Independent Major Transfer in the Class of 2025

According to the spirit of documents such as the "Management Measures for Undergraduate Students' Independent Choice of Majors at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (Revised in May 2025)" and the "Guiding Opinions on Undergraduate Students' Independent Choice of Majors at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics in 2026", we will deepen the training concept of "student development as the center" and select composite talents who are interested in the fields of statistics and data science. Our college has now launched the selection process for undergraduate students' independent transfer majors for the class of 2025. The specific arrangement is as follows:

1、 Receiving plan


Our institution will organize selection and admission according to the major categories of statistics. The specific admission majors will be determined based on students' preferences and comprehensive assessment results.

2、 Registration requirements


Applicants must meet the following basic conditions simultaneously:


1. Full time undergraduate students enrolled in the class of 2025 at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics.


2. The applicant's current college is not the School of Statistics and Data Science.


3. Good political and ideological performance, physical and mental health, and no record of violations during school.


4. Meet the application requirements stipulated in the "Management Measures for Undergraduate Students' Independent Choice of Majors at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (Revised in May 2025)", and have not encountered the situations listed in Article 8 of the Measures that prohibit application.


3、 Qualification review


The college will review the basic qualifications of all applicants. In the process of review and selection, the college will attach great importance to students' mathematical foundation, focusing on examining their learning situation in mathematics courses (such as "Mathematical Analysis" and "Advanced Mathematics") and college English courses they have taken, as an important reference for comprehensive evaluation.


4、 Assessment methods and admission principles


The college will conduct selection through a combination of written tests and interviews.


1. Written test: mainly tests the mastery and application ability of basic knowledge in subjects such as mathematical analysis and advanced algebra, with the scope based on the teaching syllabus of relevant basic courses in the School of Statistics and Data Science. A written test score of 60 or above is required to enter the interview.


2. Interview: Focus on testing students' professional interests and cognition, logical thinking ability, English expression ability, innovation consciousness, communication and collaboration ability, and ideological and political quality. The specific interview list will be determined based on the written test results.


3. Admission rules: The college will conduct a comprehensive evaluation based on the applicant's written and interview scores. Among them, the written test score accounts for 60% and the interview score accounts for 40%. Those who score 60 or above in the written test will be admitted to the admission plan based on their assessment scores, from high to low. Under the same score, winners of science and technology innovation competitions will be given priority admission.


5、 Academic transition and exit requirements


1. Academic continuity: After transferring, students should generally enter their original grade level for learning. The college will conduct academic comparison and evaluation between its completed courses and the new major training program. If it is assessed that there is a significant gap between the student's foundation and the requirements of the new major, the college will recommend that they downgrade their studies (not exceeding the maximum undergraduate study period stipulated by the school). The final grade level will be determined through negotiation between the college and the student based on their academic evaluation.
