The 12th National College Student Statistical Modeling Competition in 2026 is hosted by the Chinese Society of Statistical Education, aiming to promote a good atmosphere for learning and applying statistics among college students, stimulate their enthusiasm to pay attention to current affairs and focus on hot and difficult issues in economic and social development, improve their abilities in data mining, data analysis, and computer technology processing, and help promote the development of statistical teaching and the cultivation of statistical talents in the era of big data. It also aims to cultivate college students' innovative spirit and teamwork awareness.
We are organizing a campus competition for Shanghai University of Finance and Economics to select our students to participate in the 2026 (12th) National College Student Statistical Modeling Competition. The competition notice can be found on the official website of the competition http://www.ai-learning.net/ The relevant matters are notified as follows:
1、 Competition theme
The theme of the competition is "Empowering National Strategic Innovation Statistics", and the participating teams will write their own papers around the topic.
2、 Qualification and Grouping for Participation
Participants: Both full-time undergraduate and graduate students of our university are eligible to apply, with no restrictions on majors.
Competition groups: Undergraduate group, graduate group. Undergraduate and graduate students form separate teams, and cross group teams are not allowed.
Number of participants: Each participating team must form a team of at least 3 people, and cross school or cross group teams are not allowed. Each team must have no more than 1 supervising teacher.
3、 Work requirements
The materials for the competition include: registration form, commitment letter, AI tool usage form, paper, CNKI plagiarism report, data package, etc. All materials are prepared strictly according to the requirements. Among them, the number of characters (including spaces) in the main body of the paper shall not exceed 16000, and the plagiarism check rate shall not exceed 20%. The competition organizing committee will conduct qualification review and "CNKI" plagiarism check re examination on the main body of the participating paper. If the number of characters exceeds the standard and the plagiarism rate exceeds 20%, the participation qualification will be cancelled, and more than 40% of the paper will be considered academic misconduct.

4、 Competition Process
(1) Campus competition: From March to May, organized by the School of Statistics and Data Science at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics.
(2) Provincial competition: In June, hosted by Tongji University, the captain of the team entering the provincial competition will log in to the official website of the National College Student Statistical Modeling Competition to submit their participation materials.
(3) National competition: July August, hosted by the China Statistical Education Society.
