To further enhance recruitment efforts, expand high-quality employment resources, and foster cohesion in alumni development, from April 23rd to 25th, Zhu Mingxiong, former Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, led a team comprising Yang Hui, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Statistics and Data Science, Li Tao, Vice Dean of the School, Huang Yong, Director of the Office of the University's Recruitment and Employment Department, and Wang Yuqin, Organizer of the School, to conduct a series of visits, research, and alumni exchange activities in Guangdong. They engaged in in-depth discussions with representatives from the Guangdong Provincial Education Examination Authority, key enterprises, and alumni. The activities received strong support from the Guangdong Representative Office of the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics Alumni Association.

School-Local Collaboration: Visiting the Education Examination Authority to Discuss Enrollment and Talent Cultivation

On the morning of April 24th, the research team first visited the Guangdong Provincial Education Examination Authority. They held a discussion with relevant responsible comrades, including Li Xiangming, member of the Party Leadership Group of the Department, Secretary of the Party Committee, and Director of the Authority, Gao Lei, Vice Director of the Authority, and You Weilin, Director of the Examination and Recruitment Department.

At the symposium, Deputy Secretary Zhu Mingxiong introduced the educational characteristics, disciplinary advantages, and talent cultivation achievements of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. Secretary Yang Hui and Vice Dean Li Tao had in-depth discussions with the leaders of the Examination Authority on the professional construction of statistics disciplines, optimization of enrollment policies, and student employment development. Both parties reached a consensus on further deepening cooperation in enrollment publicity and expanding talent delivery channels. They hoped to take this exchange as an opportunity to establish a regular communication platform between the university and the local area, and jointly contribute to talent cultivation and economic and social development in Guangdong region.

School-enterprise collaboration: Visiting industry benchmarks to expand employment practice platforms

In the afternoon of the same day, the research team visited Alibaba (Guangzhou) for a visit and exchange activity. The research team visited the company's office environment on site, learned about the company's business layout and development direction in the fields of digital economy, big data analysis, and business intelligence, and conducted in-depth exchanges with relevant company executives on topics such as the core competency requirements of statistical talents in the context of the digital economy and the innovation of school-enterprise collaborative education models. Both parties exchanged views on relying on corporate resources to build student practice platforms, promoting precise alignment between statistical discipline talent cultivation and industry needs, and laid a solid foundation for further deepening school-enterprise cooperation and expanding high-quality employment channels for students.

Alumni reunion: Building a cohesive force for development, discussing collaboration between alma mater and local areas

During this trip, the research team conducted in-depth exchanges with representatives of alumni from Guangdong region. The research team held a cordial discussion with Guangdong alumni, introducing the recent development of their alma mater and the School of Statistics and Data Science. They expressed gratitude to the alumni for their long-term concern and support for the development of their alma mater, and hoped that the alumni would continue to play a role as a bridge and bond, assisting in talent cultivation and student employment at their alma mater.

This event has built a bridge for communication among schools, local governments, enterprises, and alumni. It has not only deepened the cooperation with local education authorities and industry benchmark enterprises, but also further united the alumni force, laying a solid foundation for the college to optimize talent training programs, expand enrollment and employment channels, and promote high-quality development of disciplines.
