On the afternoon of May 19th, Comrade Kang Yi, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the National Bureau of Statistics, led a delegation to visit our university for research and guidance. They conducted on-site visits and inspections of the construction of statistical disciplines, the development of AI financial platforms, and the cultivation of university history and culture. President Liu Yuanchun and Vice President Jin Yuying accompanied the delegation during the visit.
Principal Liu Yuanchun, on behalf of the school, extended a warm welcome to Director Kang Yi and his delegation. During the investigation, Principal Liu Yuanchun gave a detailed introduction to the development of the school's undertakings in recent years. The school has positioned digital and intelligent new finance as its core strategy and is guided by national strategic needs and technological development trends to reshape its discipline layout and talent cultivation system. Relying on the unique collaborative advantage of the Data Science and Statistics Research Institute jointly established with the National Bureau of Statistics, the school highlights the application advantages of big data in key areas such as national economic statistics and internet finance, effectively promoting the implementation and effectiveness of discipline construction and talent cultivation. The school has a long-term and forward-looking layout in the field of artificial intelligence, establishing an AI finance development and service center to focus on promoting the deep integration and collaborative innovation between artificial intelligence and finance, providing comprehensive and strong support for the reform and innovation of finance education.
During the investigation, Director Kang Yi and his delegation first visited the Institute of Data Science and Statistics to inspect the construction and operation of the Data Clinic and the Big Data Science Laboratory on site. Feng Xingdong, Dean of the School of Statistics and Data Science, gave a report. During the visit, Director Kang Yi inquired in detail about the construction framework of the scientific research platform, daily operation mechanism, and the effectiveness of the application of research results. He fully affirmed the characteristic education model of the Data Clinic, which integrates teacher and student resources, connects the government-industry-university-research-application chain, and cultivates compound statistical talents. He paid special attention to the scientific research layout of the laboratory in the fields of big data mining and national economic statistical analysis and judgment. He emphasized the need to continuously consolidate the foundation of statistical discipline construction, promote the deep integration of theoretical research in data science and front-line statistical practice, and build solid talent support and strengthen technical guarantee for the modernization reform of statistics in the new era.
Subsequently, Director Kang Yi and his delegation visited the AI Finance Development and Service Center. Zhang Liwen, the director of the center, comprehensively introduced the center's construction ideas, business layout, and phased construction achievements, focusing on the Kuangshi Finance Education Large Model 2.0, explaining the construction path of the general intelligent system in the finance field, as well as the actual achievements in the integration of artificial intelligence and finance disciplines, the empowerment of intelligent technology for school teaching and research, scientific research innovation, campus governance, and other aspects. Kang Yi listened carefully to the report and had in-depth discussions with the on-site staff on key aspects such as the application of artificial intelligence in statistical practice scenarios and the standardized management of statistical data security. He highly praised the school's forward-looking layout of the "AI + Finance" innovation track and the solid achievements made in deepening the field of intelligent finance. He encouraged the school to continue to tackle core intelligent technologies, deepen the integration of artificial intelligence with advantageous disciplines such as statistics and finance, and empower the overall quality and efficiency of statistical work with technology.
Finally, Director Kang Yi and his delegation visited our school's history museum. The museum director, Yu Shihong, gave a comprehensive introduction to the school's educational history, distinctive educational philosophy, profound academic development, and fruitful educational achievements. Through precious historical collections and documentary materials on development, the museum vividly demonstrated the school's deep-rooted practices and outstanding achievements in talent cultivation, scientific research and innovation, and social services.
The visit of Director Kang Yi and his delegation to our university for research has provided important directional guidance for the school to accurately and clearly map out the path for discipline construction and deepen collaborative innovation between government, industry, academia, and research. The university will take this research as an opportunity to thoroughly implement the major decisions and deployments of the Party Central Committee on statistical work, anchor the overall situation of modernization reform and development in statistics, continue to optimize discipline layout, focus on tackling key scientific research and innovation, improve and perfect the talent cultivation system, and constantly deepen communication and pragmatic cooperation with superior departments such as the National Bureau of Statistics. We will promote mutual empowerment and progress in both theoretical research and grassroots practical application in statistics, contributing the wisdom and strength of universities to support the high-quality development of the national statistical cause and serve the Chinese path to modernization.
